Would Scott Peterson be Executed Under Levitical Law?

I would say no, because Numbers 35:30 requires the testimony of at least 2 witnesses. I don't believe that there are two eyewitnesses in the Scott Peterson conviction. Great question, Byron.

I posed that question to my congregation two weeks ago and asked for a show of hands–it was a great lead-in to my Sermon on the Mount message dealing with “an eye for an eye". So today, the jury apparently ruled that Scott Peterson must die for his crimes. Though I maintain that it remains none of our business, the question remains: would he, under OT Law, be put to death? There is a correct answer–and contrary to my congregation’s near-unanimous opinion, the answer is no. That surprised a lot of people–and I challenged them to give me the reason why this was the case. Thus far, I’ve had no takers. Any takers among my august readers to answer the question, “why would Scott Peterson not be executed under OT Law?
